Direct Entry Hospitality Management
BHMS recognizes credits earned at other accredited institutions around the world and a direct entry status may be granted to students based on the following criteria:
- Direct Entry into the Higher Diploma Term: this status is granted to applicants who have successfully completed at least one academic year of hospitality management education (with English as a study medium) at one accredited institution and have earned equivalent to ca. 60 ECTS* (or 120 CATS**).
- Direct Entry into the BA Degree Term: this status is granted to applicants who have successfully completed at least two academic years of hospitality management education (with English as a study medium) at one accredited institution and have earned equivalent to ca. 120 ECTS* (or 240 CATS**).
International Hospitality Management Bridging Course:
- The Hospitality Management Bridging Course (60 hrs), offered to students transferring directly into the BA Degree term, focuses on 3 key areas of the international hospitality industry, namely:
- International Marketing for Hospitality
- International Hospitality Operations
- Hospitality Business Analysis
- Classes comprise a mixture of lectures, tutorials and activities during which students will develop a solid theoretical and applied understanding of core hospitality practices. This underpins the in-depth study of hospitality management in the Robert Gordon University modules.
* European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard for comparing the study attainment and performance of students of higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS-credits that are equivalent to 1500-1800 hours of study in all countries irrespective of standard or qualification type and is used to facilitate transfer and progression throughout the Union.
** The Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme (CATS) points system is recognised by all UK Higher Education institutions as a method of quantifying credit for a particular course.
