BHMS ranks #12 globally in the QS World University Ranking 2026

The Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS), with campuses in Lucerne and Zurich, ranks #12 globally in Hospitality & Leisure Management in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 and is among the leading institutions worldwide.

The QS World University Rankings 2026 were released on March 25, 2026. This ranking reflects strong recognition of BHMS by both the academic community and employers across the hospitality industry.

Strong reputation growth as a key driver

The improvement is primarily driven by significantly increased reputation scores, particularly stronger recognition by employers. In addition, increased visibility among international academic circles and the growing impact of BHMS graduates in the industry have contributed to this result.

Heinrich Meister, President of BHMS, sees the school’s international orientation as a key success factor: “The combination of a strongly practice-oriented education with academic learning and internships, together with a strong international network, is receiving increasing recognition worldwide. Recognition by both academics and employers is a key indicator of long-term success.”

Commitment of the entire community

This result reflects the continuous development of BHMS as well as the long-term collaboration with academic and industry partners and the commitment of students and alumni: “We greatly appreciate the trust and support of our partners, students, and alumni. Our focus remains clear: delivering high-quality education with strong career prospects,” says Ronan Fitzgerald, Director BHMS.

A globally recognised university ranking

The QS World University Rankings are published annually by the British education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds and are among the most widely recognised global university rankings. In addition to the overall ranking, QS evaluates individual subject areas, including Hospitality & Leisure Management, which is particularly relevant for hospitality schools such as BHMS.

Evaluation criteria in the QS World University Rankings

Universities are assessed based on several factors, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research performance, and the international diversity of students and faculty. In the hospitality field, the perception of graduates by the global industry also plays a particularly important role.

Clear focus and strong future outlook

The current ranking highlights the continuous development of BHMS and its growing international visibility. The goal remains unchanged: to provide students with strong and sustainable career opportunities through practice-oriented education and close industry integration.
