Trending subjects incorporated into the Business & Hospitality Management courses at B.H.M.S.

The study programs at B.H.M.S. offer an education that combines academics with professional development and real-life work experience.
Besides the core-content related to Hospitality Management, students at B.H.M.S. are exposed to relevant subjects that have an impact in the Travel Industry and in the society as a whole.

For instance, the Bachelor Degree in Global Business Management is composed of a module named Digital Media, in which the subject of technology and the new communication possibilities in the Hospitality Business in the era of social media is approached.
"The postdigital era is characterised by the subliminal perception of digital media. Knowledge of the building blocks of digital media design, production, and delivery is an impressive new skill to have for any job " according to the B.H.M.S. Lecturer Mr. Sebastiano Mereu.
During his classes, Mr. Mereu also discusses with the students the negative and positive impact of Digital Media in Business.

Technology has evolved so much that it's incorporated into our daily lives and it's part of every Business strategy, especially those related to the Travel & Tourism industry. At B.H.M.S. the students learn the importance of gaining digital skills to land a job.

It turns out that Leadership and Sustainability are also very important subjects to be focused while studying and working in the Hospitality Industry.
Mr. Arturo Cuenllas, B.H.M.S. lecturer of the MBA says: "Mediocre bosses are in all of the industries, not only in hospitality. It's what the majority of research on leadership conclude. Leadership is a process of constant learning and self-reflection. A bad boss today can be an outstanding leader tomorrow if he or she has the courage to confront with his or her weaknesses, and accept his responsibility for self-development."

In fact, the students at B.H.M.S. are encouraged to develop soft-skills related to leadership such as communication and positivity during classes and with the Industry Training, where they will have a chance to practice the knowledge acquired during the academic term.

As part of the module "Leadership and Sustainability Organizations", part of the MBA program, Mr. Arturo Cuenllas also deals with the topic of Sustainability, which according to him should be a core subject in hospitality management.
The United Nations designated 2017 the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development ."Hotels and managers must learn that a company should have a purpose beyond maximizing profits. A sustainable hotel is seen as a more responsible business with a purpose of attending to all of its stakeholders (customers, employees, suppliers, the environment, communities, and shareholders.) A new conscious way of managing people and hotels means not only creating higher levels of engagement in employees, talent development, and greater customers' experiences, but also to reducing environmental impacts and working together with local and global communities. " says Mr Arturo Cuenllas.
